KNOWN

Support

Short answers to the questions we actually get, and a way to reach a person. Email hello@knownhistory.com for anything not covered; we read everything.

Your account

How do I sign in?

With Apple, Google, or a code sent to your email. Known never sees your Apple or Google password. The same account works on every device you sign in on.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: the garage menu (the three dots), then Account, then Delete account. It removes your account, every car and its history, your photos, and cancels a Plus subscription bought on the web. It cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it, email us from the address on your account.

Known Plus

What is free and what is Plus?

Free, always: the car, the schedule, logging, the odometer, reminders and recalls. Plus: the estimate kept current, a push when it moves, the sales behind the number, more than one car, Lock Screen and Dynamic Island activities, and the history document. Your first car includes 30 days of Plus, no card required.

How do I cancel?

Bought through the App Store: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Known, Cancel. Or open the Plus sheet in the app and tap Manage subscription. Bought on the web: the Plus sheet, Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's portal. Either way you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for and are not charged again.

I paid and the app still says free.

Open the Plus sheet and tap Restore purchases (App Store), or just wait a moment and pull to refresh; the confirmation from Apple or Stripe can trail the payment by a few seconds. If it is still wrong after a minute, email us with the email on your account and we will sort it.

Refunds

App Store purchases are refunded by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Web purchases: email us; refunds for a period already charged are at our discretion and we are reasonable.

Your car's file

Can I edit a service record?

No, on purpose: history is append-only so it stays honest. Add a new record with the correction. If a record is plainly wrong (the wrong car, a test), email us.

Why does an item say "unknown"?

Because nobody has told Known when it was last done. Unknown is a real answer, not a gap we fill. Tap the item to log it, or to say it was done before you owned the car.

Where does the estimate come from?

From what cars like yours actually sell and list for, shown with its date and the sales behind it. It is an estimate, not an appraisal. When the market is too thin to say, Known says nothing rather than guessing.

The camera will not read my VIN, odometer, or tire date.

Every scanner has a type-it-instead path one tap away. For tires: the date is on one side of the tire only, the last four digits after DOT; if the code ends in letters, try the other side.

Privacy

What we collect and why is on the Privacy Policy; the rules are on the Terms of Service. No ads, no tracking, no third-party code in the app, and a license plate is never used to find a person.
